“You just don’t get it. She’s my sister, we look out for each other. And what would you know about that, anyway? One of yours acts like she doesn’t know she took the man you love, and the other’s fucked off to wander the sleazy underground because she can’t be around you guys. Don’t you tell me how family is supposed to act.”

fasdfasdf well!! i already blathered at you rather a bit about megacorps. i guess it’s worth noting that while Cerulean Industries are by absolutely no means on the up-and-up, plenty of their employees are good people that just wanted to DO! SCIENCE!!
cerulean’s one of the largest employers on the continent (and rank pretty damn high in the world), in every field from engineering to advertisement. they spend a LOT on public relations. they have a fairly good public standing, but there have been more than a few rumours over the years, almost always about corporate espionage. the energy business has gotten rather… cutthroat, by this point. which is why they’ve got a… special definition of ‘human resources’.
by messing with people on a genetic level, they’ve managed to create humans somewhat akin to comic book mutants. the changes can be a little hit and miss, and the emotional development often leaves something to be desired, but those are probably details for another question asdfkjasdf. the only alteration that they’ve managed to boil down to a consistent formula is the one for energy units, to basically turn people into bipedal electric eels. the central hub of design and creation are the Stateside Labs, located just north of the center of the Tekne sprawl. apart from a number of side projects in various states of development, these house the five Combat Units (exactly what it says on the tin), twelve Specialty Units (infiltration, combat and pr), and several dozen Energy Units (conscripted batteries).
there are also a number of failed units in the lower levels, that can’t be put down and DEFINITELY can’t be set loose. knowledge of ANY of these units is not public knowledge and is closely guarded within the company — the only exception are the energy units, which are advertised as having been grown as test tube babies without brain function for this purpose (this is not the truth).
and while it got reworked and is actually somewhat serious now, one of the many reasons for cerulean’s name is a shout-out to the other worst company in fictional existence. :’)
holy shit this got long as hell, fajsdklf i should probably save narrators for another post or aim or something /;;\
